I'm Brian McMartin. Most of my week goes to running production and IT systems for a precision scientific equipment manufacturer in the South Bay of Los Angeles, Epicor Kinetic, cost accounting, production planning, all of it. The rest goes to consulting and building software, usually because someone else is stuck on a problem I've already solved for myself.
I've been in enterprise systems for over twelve years, six of them hands-on with Epicor specifically. On the side, under Briansg.com, I build AI automation and web software. Some of my own products have shipped and worked. A couple haven't, and I've learned more from those than I'd like to admit, building something from nothing teaches you things a client engagement never will.
My client work is short, direct, and hands-on, the same way I run my own systems. I write the audit and build the first version. I don't pad timelines and I don't sell work I can't finish.

A report nobody reads is worthless. I build things that work, not things that look good in a handoff folder.
Minimum friction
Complexity is usually the problem. I subtract before I add.
I stay until it's running
I don't hand off a plan and disappear. I operate my own systems day to day, so I stay on client work the same way, until it's actually working.
Data over opinion
I make decisions from evidence — production accounting and systems analysis, not gut feel.
